Iona Village Hall is at the heart of the local community and forms part of the lives and memories of the local residents and visitors alike. It is the place where our children grow up, have birthday parties, perform their school plays, dance, and get married. It forms the backdrop to the collective memory of our community. The dance floor retains the memory of all who have danced there and the walls hold the voices and instruments of many years. It is our debating chamber, cinema, and our gathering place.
Since 1928, the Village Hall on Iona has been hosting island events. Hundreds of ceilidhs, fundraising events, wedding dances and discos have been held here since it was built. The hall is available to hire by residents and non-residents alike.
Events and activities in the hall
Weekly activities at the hall throughout the year include Zumba, indoor football, Playgroup, Tai-chi and badminton. In the summer months dances and ceilidhs are usually weekly. Plays, concerts and other public events happen throughout the summer season. Upcoming events and news can usually be found in the 'what's on' section of this site as well as on the village hall website and you can also find us on Facebook.
The hall costs just under £7,000 annually to run. All of this has to be raised though hire fees and fundraising - we don’t receive any funding towards running costs.
Further details about booking and facilities can be found on our website.
